Potami party on Tuesday slammed SYRIZA for its comments on the television time allocated to each party during the election campaign, saying that the former governing party has been “for months haggling its promotion by the media.”

SYRIZA accused Potami that “it advocated to distribute a few millions to the TV channels”.

“The “friends of Maximos Mansion, as [former SYRIZA MP] Manolis Glezos described them, has been haggling for the past seven months with TV station owners and publishers for its promotion, and now its rescue,” Potami responded.

“The results are visible to everyone and the people are laughing with the sudden praises of some media to Mr. Tsipras and his associates.”

Potami continued to clarify that the law foresees free advertising time and that TV channels are obliged to grant it to the parties, without compensations or rewards. “But the distribution of time must be considered based on the time when it will be aired … The viewership is different at 2 am in the morning and at 20.00 pm at night. What we ask is for a fair distribution of the free air time between the parties, without the alchemies of SYRIZA’s schemers,” the party concluded.
