Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Sunday said that the Greek people must be alert and united to face new developments.

"The working class, the popular strata of our country, with unity, in alliance with readiness and alertness, must face whatever developments [arise], whether these lead to a new 'guillotine' agreement - basically a memorandum with harsh measures - or whether they lead to developments such as an exit from the euro, a parallel currency with our people bankrupt."

He promised that the KKE will continue to be on the front line of the struggle so that peope can be relieved of immediate problems of survival and open the way for the abolition of all anti-popular measures through a confrontation with the EU, capital and their power in a new society with popular prosperity for all," Koutsoumbas said from his polling station in Nea Ionia.
