European Commission opens a discussion forum in Athens
A new place for public discussions about European issues was today inaugurated by the European Parliament Office and the European Commission Representation in Greece.

‘’This action intends to bring Greek citizens closer to Brussels, in order to discuss and exchange opinions about European politics,’’ said the vice president of the European Parliament, Dimitris Papadimoulis.

This culture centre is in the European Parliament’s building in Athens and is fully equipped with computers, televisions and a library, in a modern environment, where meetings can be organized as well. In addition, there is an internet radio station (called ‘’NGR’’), which broadcast today for the very first time, and a Facebook page. There is also a website and a newsletter under construction.

The first membership cards were distributed today, during the grand opening. The head of the European Commission representation in Greece, Panos Karvounis, explained the importance of promoting the European idea and noted that ‘’every Greek issue has a European aspect.’’
