Environment Ministry seeks solution to flooding problems
The Ministry of Environment and Energy is planning to find a solution to the problem of flooding, mainly of the rivers Evros and Strymonas, through the creation of an International Water Management Agency.
"Our priority is to avoid flooding and this will only be done through a very good cooperation with our neighbours," the special secretary of the ministry Iakovos Ganoulis said to ANA-MPA.
Gavoulis presented on Friday at a conference on the climate change the planning of the ministry "from the management to the governance of the Greek seas and water resources."
"It is also a political problem; the solution is to work harder. We are seeking to have an international agency, a Greek-Bulgarian one," Ganoulis said, admitting, however, that in terms of planning, where the foreign ministry is involved there are reactions. It is not an easy issue," he said.
