Greek budget records higher primary surplus in Jan-Oct

Greek budget recorded a primary surplus of 4.517 billion euros in the January-October period, up from a primary surplus of 2.654 billion euros in the same period last year and a revised budget target for a surplus of 2.424 billion euros.

The general government's deficit was 808 million euros in the 10-month period, from a deficit of 2.448 billion in 2014 and a revised budget target for a deficit of 2.81 billion euros.

State budget net revenue totaled 39.740 billion euros, down 5.1 pct from revised budget targets, while regular budget net revenue totaled 36.645 billion euros, down 5.0 pct from targets. Public Investment Programme's revenue totaled 3.095 billion euros, down 208 million from revised targets.

State budget spending totaled 40.548 billion euros in the January-October period, down 4.194 billion from targets, while regular budget spending totaled 37.727 billion, down 3.165 billion euros from budget targets reflecting a 2.822 billion euros cut in primary spending and a 395 million euros reduction in defense spending. Regular budget spending fell 4.9 pct compared with 2014, while Public Investment Programme's spending totaled 2.821 billion euros, down 1.029 bln from targets.

In October net budget revenue eased to 5.448 bln euros, while regular budget revenue was 4.422 bln euros. Budget spending fell to 4.352 billion euros while regular budget spending totaled 3.702 bln euros.
