Greek stocks end slightly lower

Greek stocks ended slightly lower in the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday as investors took profits after Monday’s sharp advance.

The composite index of the market fell 0.64 pct to end at 718.14 points, off the day’s lows of 712.88 points. The Large Cap index eased 0.74 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.55 pct lower. Turnover was an improved 67.504 million euros.

Eurobank (10 pct), Alpha Bank (3.38 pct), Lamda Development (2.0 pct) and Grivalia Properties (1.46 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains of the day among blue chip stocks, while National Bank (9.59 pct), Piraeus Bank (7.27 pct), PPC (2.48 pct) and Mytilineos (2.265 pct) suffered heavy losses.

Among market sectors, the Real Estate (1.46 pct), Food (0.64 pct) and Personal Products (0.45 pct) scored gains, while Banks (3.33 pct), Utilities (2.04 pct) and Raw Materials (1.97 pct) suffered losses.

Broadly, decliners led advancers by 65 to 33 with another 17 issues unchanged. Audiovisual (24.59 pct), Pasal (19 pct) and Lavipharm (10.45 pct) were top gainers, while Perseus (20 pct), Progressive (19.51 pct) and AEGEK (19.15 pct) were top losers.
