Double tragedy in the Aegean; 21 dead
A wooden vessel with about 150 refugees on board capsized late on Thursday between Kalolymnos and Kalymnos.
Four Greek Coast Guard vessels, a Frontex vessel, a Super Puma helicopter and three fishing boats rushed to the area. They have already recovered 18 bodies, including the bodies of at least nine children. Efforts to rescue more people continue. However, strong winds are blowing in the area.
In another incident, a Coast Guard vessel rescued six refugees and recovered three bodies (two kids and a woman) in the sea region off Rhodes island. Three more people are missing. The rescued refugees have been transferred to the hospital of Rhodes.
