PM Tsipras meets his Albanian counterpart Rama
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama on Monday in the US.
The Greek Prime Minister stressed the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the two countries on the basis of international law and in a spirit of mutual respect. At the same time, he stressed the need to respect the rights of the Greek National Minority and the religious rights, highlighting in this context the important role of Albania Archbishop Anastasios.
Tsipras underlined that Greece is on the side of Albania on its course to Europe, adding that he expects Albania will also demonstrate its firm commitment to integrating the acquis communautaire. The two officials also discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on economic and commercial sectors, and Edi Rama invited Alexis Tsipras to visit Albania.
