Clashes with migrants in Mytilene port
Greece's Coast Guard with the help of the police on Friday morning made use of stun grenades to deal with the uprising of thousands of migrants, particularly Afghans, who have been stuck for days in the port of Mytilene.
Around 1,000 Afghans tried to occupy Blue Star 1 ferry shouting "Athens- Athens". The occupation was avoided when the catapult board closed, but at the same time hundreds of passengers who had embarked on it were trapped among the migrants.
Meanwhile, Eleftherios Venizelos ferry carrying about 2,504 migrants from four islands of the Eastern Aegean is expected to arrive at Piraeus port around 10 am.
