Greek stocks move up in record low turnover

Greek stocks ended slightly higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday in line with a rebound in other European markets after two days of sharp losses. Trading conditions remained extremely low, with turnover recording a new low for 2015. The composite index of the market rose 0.80 pct to end at 626.46 points, off the day’s highs of 627.91 points.

Turnover was 14.579 million euros, with volume of 63,703,456. The Large Cap index rose 1.08 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.96 pct higher.

Alpha Bank (11.11 pct), Mytilineos (3.62 pct), Grivalia Properties (2.86 pct) and Coca Cola HBC (2.50 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Eurobank (2.70 pct), Lamda Development (2.27 pct) and Aegean Airlines (1.56 pct) suffered heavy losses.

Among market sectors, Insurance (5.71 pct), Raw Materials (3.56 pct) and Food (2.50 pct) scored big gains, while Health (1.65 pct), Telecoms (1.25 pct) and Personal Products (0.94 pct) suffered losses.

Broadly, advancers led decliners by 55 to 33 with another 19 issues unchanged. Audiovisual (12 pct), Alpha Bank (11.11 pct) and G.E.Demetriou (10 pct) were top gainers, while Altec (17.86 pct), Hellenic Sugar (16.67 pct) and Selonda (15 pct) were top losers.
