PM Tsipras refuses to meet Popular Unity leader
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras refused to meet with Popular Unity leader Panagiotis Lafazanis on Monday as he took over from the Conservative leader the mandate to form a government.
According to government sources, Lafazanis called Tsipras and asked for a meeting which the premier declined, saying it would not lead to the formation of a government. Lafazanis agreed with the argument but added he wanted to discuss his views on the electoral law and the operation of the political system.
Tsipras responded that such proposals are welcome as soon as the exploratory bid is completed as a meeting at this point would only concern the possibility of forming a government.
