Large wildfire burning out of control in Rhodes
A large fire that broke out in a forest on the island of Rhodes in the afternoon on Monday is burning out of control, the fire department said.
Residents who arrived in the area of Tsairi, three kilometers from the cross road on the Rhodes-Lindos street, claim the blaze started simultaneously from five different sides.
The blaze was quickly fuelled by strong winds blowing in the region and a large unit of fire fighters is on the site trying to cut off the main front from reaching a nearby forest area which is unreachable by ground forces.
