Greek inflation rate at -2.2 pct in July
The Greek economy remained in a deflation trend for the 29th month in a row in July, with the consumer price index falling 2.2 pct compared with the same month last year, after a -0.7 pct decline recorded in the 2014-2013 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

In its report, it said that the inflation rate fell 1.3 pct in July from June, after an 1.2 pct drop in the same period last year. The average inflation rate in the August 2014-July 2015 period fell 1.9 pct.

The statistics service attributed the -2.2 pct inflation rate in July to a 3.3 pct decline in clothing/footwear, a 7.4 pct fall in housing, a 2.3 pct decline in durable goods, an 1.4 pct fall in health prices, a 3.5 pct decline in transport, an 1.7 pct fall in entertainment, a 3.1 pct decline in education, a 0.4 pct fall in hotel/restaurant, a 4.4 pct drop in other goods and services. On the other hand, prices grew 0.9 pct in the food/beverage and 2.1 pct in alcohol/tobacco categories.
