Fire front threatening Neapoli partially under control, authorities report
At least one of the fronts in the fires raging through Neapoli, Lakonia was partially under control, Peloponnese Region governor Petros Tatoulis said late on Friday.
He said fire-fighters had managed to contain the fires near Neapoli and the surrounding villages, while the northeastern front of the fire was still burning its way through a stand of forest behind the mountain and heading toward Kastania.
Meanwhile, Public Power Corporation (PPC) repair teams are working hard to restore power to Neapoli and the surrounding area, where power lines were down.
