Athens Municipality welfare benefit payments delayed
The City of Athens municipality on Monday announced that it was unable to pay welfare benefits due to Athens residents because the necessary funds had not been transferred from the interior ministry.
It stressed that the funds will be paid into the recipients accounts as soon as they are received from the General Accounting Office.
It also announced that the amounts received as welfare benefits in 2014 had been uploaded into the electronic archives of the General Secretariat for Information Systems for tax purposes and the recipients would therefore not have to visit municipality services to receive documents for the tax office.
