Greece to submit request for new funding programme from ESM, confirm gov't sources

Greece is ready to submit on Wednesday a new request for a funding programme by the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and a comprehensive proposal for reforms, government sources confirmed from Brussels on Tuesday.

The sources also said that there’s a broad understanding from all sides that such a program could not be arranged in such a short time, so there is a need for a short-term agreement.

Greece’s proposal is for this agreement to cover the needs of the current month, the sources said, adding that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will present today to his counterparts the relevant document which combines the proposals submitted by the institutions, the result of the referendum and the positions of the Greek government.
