The banking system will gradually normalize, Alternate Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas said on Tuesday, adding that he is not aware of a deposits haircut.
Speaking at Parapolitika radio, Mardas said: "I am not aware of something like that and what banks and the EU have in their minds."
Asked when banks could open, he noted: "We worked yesterday on this. We planned to issue a new legislative act, but because of the developments we felt it appropriate to extend the old regime. On Thursday, a new legislative act will be issued, according to which banks will provide new services. The system will gradually normalize. Not from one day to another. The simplest thing we can say is that the situation is difficult and unprecedented."
