Two big rallies in favour of the 'no' and 'yes' vote in Sunday's referendum in central Athens
Main coalition partner SYRIZA urged citizens to participate massively in the ‘No’ rally on Syntagma square, noting that on Sunday, Greek people are called upon to take their future in their hands and send a strong message to the country’s creditors and the domestic supporters of destructive memorandums.
The rally on Syntagma square is large and people are still gathering while Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is addressing the crowd.
At the same time, thousands of people have gathered in front of the ancient Panathenaic Stadium chanting slogans in favour of Europe and the European Union.
Earlier small-scale scuffles erupted between anti-establishment protesters and riot police in front of the finance ministry.
