Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said that in case 'yes' prevails in the referendum he will resign in an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday.

He stated that "if 'yes' prevails, I will not be Finance Minister on Monday evening" adding however, that he is eager to contribute whoever undertakes the responsibility to navigate the country’s debt crisis.

Varoufakis said that he expects from the Greek voters to follow the government's recommendation and to reject the institutions' rescue proposals which, as he said, will demand further tax increases and spending cuts in exchange for continued aid.

"I rather cut my arm off than sign a new deal that does not restructure the public debt," Varoufakis stated.

"What we are saying to the Greek people is "no more extend and pretend" Varoufakis said. "We want to reform this country...but we want to do it in the context of debt restructure."
