Greece will seek NSRF 2007-2013 financing for refugee management actions, econ ministry says
Greece will attempt to draw funds from the 2007-2013 National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) in order to finance actions that have been implemented or will be implemented for the management of refugee and migrant flows, according to an announcement that the economy, development and tourism ministry released on Friday.

In a letter sent to European Commission for Regional Policy Corina Cretu on Wednesday - after consulting with Greece's Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas - Deputy Economy Minister Alexis Haritsis said that the economy and migration ministry had drawn up a detailed list of such projects and actions relating to the refugee crisis and were applying for funds to implement them from the NSRF.

He noted that meeting Greece's demand will result in covering at least some of the urgent needs created by the crisis and the utilisation of available funds in the best possible way.

The letter forms part of an overall effort of the Greek economy and interior ministries to exploit all available sources of funding.

"The economy ministry, working with the European Commission, will continue in the coming period the efforts to explore all possible sources of funding for the needs arising due to refugee and migrant flows," the announcement concluded.
