Earthquake causes severe damages to buildings and road network on Ithaca island
Ithaca island is in state of emergency after the strong earthquake that hit the region early Tuesday.

The small Ionian island is counting its wounds after the 6.1 Richter earthquake with epicentre the island of Lefkada that caused a series of damages to churches, houses and stores. The island's road network has been interrupted in many parts due to multiple landslides.

"The people are in the streets. The damages are uncountable," Ithaca mayor Dionyssis Stanitsas said to ANA-MPA on Tuesday "fortunately there were no victims," he added.
