Migration minister discusses cross-party committee on refugees with PASOK, Centrists' Union
Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas on Tuesday continued a round of meetings with political party leaders to discuss the formation of a cross-party committee on the refugee crisis. Mouzalas received PASOK President Fofi Gennimata and Centrists' Union President Vassilis Leventis to present his proposals.

Gennimata left the meeting without making any statements to the press but later released a written statement saying that she had presented the minister with specific proposals made by her party on this sensitive issue.
She criticised the policy adopted by the European Union and the government thus far, saying the crisis needed specific initiatives ahead of what promised to be a difficult winter. "The major problems of the refugee issue cannot be solved via the timid steps taken by the EU and the Greek government marking time," she said, adding that the time had come for Europe to contribute and for the Dublin Treaty to be revised.
"This is not a bilateral issue between Greece and Turkey. The EU and international community must fully undertake their responsibilities," she said.
Leventis said that the success of Greece's policy would be determined by preparing state mechanisms for arrivals in larger numbers and Greece's diplomatic pressure on Europe to force Turkey's compliance, since it was a gateway country. He proposed creating reception structures in areas away from inhabited districts, such as former army camps, and was in favour of a UN programme to host refugees in unused apartments.
Mouzalas will next meet representatives of the opposition parties Potami and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) but times and dates have not yet been decided.
