International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies increases financial support to Greece

The financial support amounts to 12.7 million Swiss francs (about 11.6 million euros) and will facilitate the Greek Red Cross to offer food, water, personal hygiene kits, high thermal insulation blankets, mattresses, clothes and bag packs at the refugees reception and accommodation centres. It will also support the provision of first aid and emergency medical care, search and rescue activities on the coast, psycho-social support and assistance for reuniting families. The financial aid will allow the Red Cross to assist some 200,000 migrants and refugees over the next seven months.
"Unfortunately, we need the help of the Red Cross which is generously given to us. On the part of the ministry, efforts will be made to make the best possible use of the assistance provided to us by the Red Cross," Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas said.
