Avoiding repeat elections will determine SYRIZA's stance after polls, Flambouraris says
"We are seeking a majority in Parliament in order to govern in a stable political climate. If we do not have a majority, something that will become apparent after the Greek people vote, then on the basis of the new political landscape that is formed - which may conceal surprises - we will determine our stance, with our basic criterion being to avoid new elections," he said.
At the same time, he rejected calls for a 'national unity' government made by New Democracy, PASOK and the Potami party.
"National unity is a serious aim and not some cheap pre-election proclamation," he noted, saying it was a mockery to talk of national unity in a country where 1.5 million were unemployed, 3.0 million were living below the poverty line and social services were in shambles.
"SYRIZA is seeking a strong mandate to start improving the situation and overturn this reality," he said.
