SYRIZA asks caretaker government to suspend VAT increase in private education
SYRIZA asked the caretaker government on Tuesday to suspend a measure imposing a 23 pct VAT on private education, saying that the new SYRIZA government of Alexis Tsipras will abolish the measure.
“The VAT increase in private education came about after the insistence of the institutions. The specific increase was voted on July 15 by New Democracy which pretends to have just realized it,” the party said in a statement.
“Following a public statement by the [European] Commission that it didn’t demand a VAT increase in education, we ask the caretaker government to suspend the measure.”
