Labour minister discusses social security system reform with PM
The reforms on the social security system are not a simple issue, Labour Minister George Katrougalos said on Friday, after exiting from a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Speaking to journalists outside Maximos Mansion, the minister said the issue was discussed ahead of the political party leaders’ meeting on Saturday.
“The social security reform is not a simple political issue, it’s a national issue. Therefore, avoid cutting pensions for the 12th time, achieving a reform that will restore viability of the system and justice should be a national red line,” Katrougalos said.
“I’d like to believe that everyone will respect this and I cannot imagine that there are parties that would not want to engage in a dialogue in order to respect fully this national red line,” he added.
