Greek private sector union calls 24-hour strike on Dec. 3
Greece's private sector umbrella union GSEE called on Wednesday a 24-hour nationwide strike for Dec. 3 to protest reforms demanded by the country's lenders and the destruction of the welfare system which is being promoted.
“Employees, pensioners, the unemployed, young men and women of our country, will give a strong answer to the new barbaric, tough and hostile measures which impoverish the worker, lead the unemployed to despair, force the new generation to leave the country and turn pensioners into veterans of life,” the union said in a press release.
On the same day, Communist Party-affiliated workers' union PAME will also hold a strike and called on citizens to fight to save welfare and avoid tax hikes.
