Christmas period to open in Athens on Thursday
Athens mayor will give the signal for the official illumination of the city of Athens ahead of Christmas and the New Year celebrations on Thursday 19 November.
Two groups of the Philarmonic Band of the municipality of Athens will start a music tour at 17:30 on Thursday from Monastiraki metro station and Kotzia square in Athens and will finally meet at Syntagma square to welcome the people and create a party-like atmosphere.
Athens' Big Band along with popular Greek singer Sakis Rouvas will perform at a special event and songs dedicated to Paris, that will accompany the official illumination of the Christmas tree at Syntagma.
