Alternate FM Xydakis meets EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Stylianides
Alternate Foreign Minister Nikos Xydakis’ meeting with the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, took place in a very friendly atmosphere on Monday, in Brussels, according to a Foreign ministry's annnouncement.
The discussion centered on issues of European humanitarian policy, with particular emphasis on the refugee and migration issue. The two men analyzed the impact of the Syrian crisis on the wider Middle East region and focused on the pivotal role of Turkey in the refugee issue, as well as on the importance of collaboration with Lebanon and Jordan.
Moreover, they explored the potential for the Commissioner’s assistance in supporting the European countries faced with managing major influxes of refugees.
