Security measures in Lesvos are sufficient, say authorities
The representatives of police and other local authorities held a meeting chaired by the island’s deputy mayor, Stratis Tzimis, to discuss security, following the terrorist attacks in Paris.
Participants in the meeting also expressed their “unanimous condemnation of the atrocities committed by terrorists against innocent citizens of the democratic and friendly country of France, but also the condemnation of the continuing practice of unscrupulous traffickers who send refugees and immigrants to their deaths.”
They also said that all state security services are cooperating very well to ensure measures being taken are sufficient to protect the island. “The people of Lesvos can safely and with pride continue with its peaceful work,” they added.
