German gov't spokesman Seibert stresses need for creation of hotspots
German government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Friday stressed the need for the creation of refugees reception centres (hotspots) in Greece and Italy as soon as possible.
Referring to the Greek proposal for the creation of hotspots in Turkey, he said that negotiations with Ankara are required and not "bilateral ones among Europeans."
"We should give priority to the creation of hotspots, which have been ratified from EU councils in the past and these are the hotspots in Greece and Italy. And German Chancellor referred to the issue yesterday," Seibert noted.
"There is some progress, but things could proceed faster," he said and added: "We are rather interested in developing that hotspots."
