Former minister's wife Viki Stamati released from jail after posting 50,000-euro bail
The wife of jailed former minister Akis Tsohatozopoulos, Vicky Stamati, was released from custody on Tuesday after posting 50,000 euros in bail. A criminal appeals court had earlier denied her request to be relieved of the obligation to post bail, on the grounds that she was destitute.
Stamati had been convicted along with her husband Tsohatzopoulos on charges of money-laundering and corruption linked to defence contracts, during the time when Tsohatzopoulos was serving as defence minister.
