The ticket prices in museums and archaeological sites were "rationally modified according to the existing fares at European level," explained the Culture ministry in an announcement on Friday adding that "the intergrated tickets new policy which will allow the visit to more than one sites in the same area is currently being examined."

The restructuring and redefinition of the ticket price policy that was drew up by the Culture ministry and the Archaeological Sources Fund along with the Museums Directorate will be completed immediately and afterwards a ministerial decision will be issued that will be applied from January 2016 or earlier, said the Ministry.

The new policy provides among others: Free entrance to archaelogical sites and museums every Sunday in the period November-March as well as a 50 percent discount in the same period. The intergated ticket will offer the opportunity to visit a number of sites and museums with a fare even lower than the existing.

The new ticket prices are part of a Culture Ministry's wider policy to attract more visitors. According to a cost-benefit analysis, the new pricing policy is expected to lead to substantial hike of the revenues in museums and archaeological sites in 2016.
