Greek oil refiner submits improved bid for hydrocarbon exploration
Greece’s largest refiner, Hellenic Petroleum (ELPE), submitted an improved offer for oil exploration licenses in the onshore blocks of Arta and Preveza and in north-western Peloponnese, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.
The new bid comes after the Evaluation Committee overseeing the tender invited the company to improve its initial offer.
“The offers are based on experience gained in older projects that had taken place in Western Greece; they are streamlined and fully aligned with the international practices in oil exploration and, of course, comply with purely business criteria,” ELPE said in its statement.
It added the company is now waiting the decision documented scoring, evaluation and ranking of the bids from the Committee, before it submits its final offer.
Energean Oil & Gas, the country’s sole oil producer, has also submitted a bid for oil exploration licenses in Arta - Preveza and Aetoloacarnania.
