My aim was to restore normalcy to trade relations with Russia, Tsipras tells TIF press conference
"I did not go to Russia to ask for money and you can see this in the joint statements I made in Moscow and St. Petersburg," SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras clarified on Monday, during a press conference at the 80th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).
He underlined that the main aim of his two meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin was to once again kickstart relations with Russia, especially normalcy in trade relations, the presence of Russian tourists in Greece and that the pipeline through Turkey also goes through Greece.
"Others may possibly have had other kinds of illusions, that Russia is the continuation of the Soviet Union. Let them deal with that," he added.
