SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on Monday said that SYRIZA is seeking a strong mandate from the Greek people in the upcoming elections, in order to continue the effort begun in January. He was replying to questions at a press conference at TIF about what kind of post-election cooperation SYRIZA would consider, in order to form a government.

It was up to the Greek people to decide which party it wants in government, he added, stressing that the dilemma was whether this would be SYRIZA or the New Democracy party, which was burdened by all the sins of its past. The voters will decide whether they want SYRIZA with an absolute majority or in collaboration with others, he said, pointing out that SYRIZA had already proved its ability to cooperate with forces having very different ideologies, such as the Independent Greeks (ANEL).

Concerning the "apology" voiced by ND leader Evangelos Meimarakis during a press conference on Sunday, Tsipras said it would be better if Meimarakis had apologised not to him but for all the things his party had done in the last 40 years and for its stance during the last 2.5 years in the coalition government with PASOK.
