Greek President at 80th TIF: 'The eurozone is the only path for Greece'

“Greece and our people cannot survive in terms of a stable democracy and economic and social dignity outside the European Union, following a lonely path towards uncertainty and the unknown,” the president told attendees who included caretaker Prime Minister Vassiliki Thanou.

Addressing Greece’s political parties, he said that all political forces who have selected Europe have an obligation to carry out the country’s European path united, regardless of their differences. “Public and national interest dictates that the country’s course cannot be other than our European course, inside the European Union and the hard core of the Eurozone.”

Pavlopoulos also warned that this path must remain unchanged and non-negotiable “particularly after the bitter experience of the current events.”
