SYRIZA spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili once again ruled out the possibility of post-election cooperation with New Democracy and repeated that SYRIZA's goal was an outright majority, speaking on Parapolitika 90.1 radio on Friday.

She noted that the results of the elections will determine the form of cooperation between the parties.

Gerovasili announced that SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras will hold the customary press conference held each year at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) on Monday and that he would not "hide, unlike his predecessor Antonis Samaras".

Expanding on the issue of cooperation between parties, SYRIZA's spokeswoman noted that they required common strategic and policy goals, a common position concerning the debt and on key issues, including labour law, lay offs, state social insurance and privatisation of the Public Power Corporation (PPC).

"In this way, we will be able to cope in the tough negotiation that is coming," she added, noting that the issue was being used as a communications ploy "by those that know they are losing the elections".

Noting that the opposition parties had not presented policies, Gerovasili claimed that SYRIZA's government had implemented more than 50 pct of the Thessaloniki programme that it had unveiled last year, before it was elected.

During its seven months in power, she said, the government had address "basic issues of the humanitarian crisis" and had helped many people settle outstanding tax debts through the law giving 100 installments.

"During the negotiation, the prime minister and the ministers said what really happened, what we were able and not able to do," she added, noting that SYRIZA had exercised self-criticism and "we are now more mature and stronger."
