US removes November 17 from list of foreign terrorist groups-Sputnik
US State Secretary John Kerry revoked the designation of the organization November 17 as terrorist on August 26, according to the official newspaper of the federal government (Federal Register).
"I conclude that the circumstances that were the basis for the designation of the Revolutionary Organization 17 November as foreign terrorist organization have changed in such a manner as to warrant revocation of the designation," said Kerry.
The US did not give more details about the decision and the circumstances justifying the withdrawal of the designation, or how they have changed enough to justify removing November 17 from the list.
The report of the US State Department on terrorism of 2014 describes the November 17 as a "far-left organization," which is responsible for the killings of American officials and public figures in Greece.
