The Communist Party doesn’t participate in exploratory bids which it considers a “mockery”, party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas said on Wednesday, following a phone call with the leader of Popular Unity Panagiotis Lafazanis who is in his third and last day of his exploratory bid.

“The Communist Party doesn’t participate in the exploratory mandate process, not only because, as a matter of principle, the party doesn’t participate in such governments, but because today there’s no chance of forming a special purpose government based on the current associations in the parliament,” Koutsoumbas said in a statement.

“We consider the process a mockery and a show in the way it is being carried out, so that parties which take the mandate at the expense of other parties, as … there’s no room for a communication with the people,” he added.
