New Democracy slams PM for refusing to meet with party leader Meimarakis
“The meetings of political leaders in the framework of exploratory mandates are institutional and constitutional and aim, among others, at diffusing political tensions. They are not friendly of social meetings,” the Conservative party said in a statement.
“For months now, Mr. Tsipras is behaving with an authoritarian approach. He decides by himself for very serious issues on the country’s future and when he realizes the negative effects of his movements, he presents himself as a victim of blackmail. At present, he chooses old, condemned practices of polarization,” the party added.
New Democracy also said the efforts for a better future require dialog, consensus and wider coalitions between political forces and this is why party leader Meimarakis wanted to meet Tsipras. He replied however that “he didn’t want to see him”.
