Gov't VP Dragasakis rejects ND leader's proposal to head a new government
Government Vice-President Yannis Dragasakis rejected on Friday a proposal by the main opposition leader Vangelis Meimarakis to head a new government and avert snap elections.
Following a meeting earlier with Parliament President Zoi Konstantopoulou, Meimarakis said that a government could be formed headed by SYRIZA minister, suggesting this person could be Dragasakis.
“I thank Mr. Meimarakis for his proposal. I understand it serves the tactic followed by the main opposition. I would like to ask him though, in the name of our mutual respect, to stop involving me in roles and plans which he already knows I could never accept,” Dragasakis said in a post on his Facebook account which was also reposted on Twitter.
