PM Tsipras submits resignation to Greek President, requests caretaker government
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras submitted his resignation to President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Thursday night, after a televised statement in which he asked Greeks to give him a clear mandate in the upcoming national elections.
Tsipras asked Pavlopoulos to initiate procedures for early elections and set up a caretaker government, while he argued that there were no preconditions for the formation of a unity government.
