Greece can help Europe return to its roots, President Pavlopoulos says
"Greece can help Europe return to its roots," President of Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Friday said welcoming a group of student from North Eastern University, Boston, at the Presidential Palace.
"It is certain that Europe is an economic union which aims at economic progress and development. But economic growth and progress in the European Union can only exist if Humanism is in the center of the European culture. And this is Greece's great contribution since antiquity. Humanism was in the center the society and the economy. Therefore, Greece will fulfill its commitments to the European Union, but will contribute together with the other peoples of Europe to bridge the democratic gap that exists today and help Europe return in the pursuit of its basic principles, founding principles which are the Humanism and Social Justice."
The students are visiting Greece as part of a pioneering project of the North Eastern University in Boston, regarding the dialogue between cultures among 56 states, of which 16 belong to the European Union.
This year's program concerns the dialogue of cultures regarding Greece.
