Greek consumer confidence sharply down in Q2, Nielsen report‏

Greek consumer confidence index fell sharply in the second quarter of 2015 to 53 points, down 12 points from the first quarter, Nielsen said in a report released on Monday.

The report said that Greece recorded the biggest fall in the optimism index among the countries included in the report, while respondents in the report said they believed that Greece will remain in economic crisis next year also. Greek citizens were most concerned about their job positions (40 pct compared with a 22 pct in the EU), about the economy (41 pct compared with 20 pct) and their debt (30 pct compared with 14 pct).

Greeks were also concerned about health (22 pct), rising prices (10 pct) and education (9.0 pct). Men were mostly concerned about the economy and political stability while women were more concerned about employment, health and education.

Finally, the report said that 8 out of 10 Greeks were trying to cut their household expenses, focusing on spending outside their homes, buying cheaper products, spending on clothing and food delivery.
